About Blue Continuum

The Earth is wrapped in a remarkably thin blue envelope of ocean, land, and atmosphere, a fragile continuum that extends from the deepest ocean trenches to the edge of space. Within this narrow band exists every known living thing, every civilization, every work of art, every scientific discovery, and every human story. Beyond it lies the vast cosmos, beneath it an ocean we have only begun to understand.

Blue Continuum explores this extraordinary frontier.

Published by John Steele, the founder of Nautilus magazine, Blue Continuum continues the tradition that made Nautilus one of the world's most respected science publications, intellectual rigor, literary storytelling, visual excellence, and the belief that the most important ideas should be accessible to every curious reader.

Our focus is the continuum itself, the interconnected world that stretches from deep ocean to deep space. We tell the stories of exploration, discovery, technology, conservation, and the people whose work is expanding humanity's understanding of our planet and our place in the universe. Whether the subject is marine biology, astronomy, climate science, robotics, ocean exploration, or the search for life beyond Earth, our purpose is to reveal the connections that unite them.

Blue Continuum believes that science is not simply a collection of facts, but one of humanity's greatest adventures. We seek to illuminate that adventure through compelling journalism, thoughtful essays, conversations with leading explorers and scientists, documentaries, photography, and live events.

Our mission is simple: to inspire wonder, deepen understanding, and remind us that the journey from the deepest ocean to the furthest stars is not a collection of separate stories, but one continuous exploration of the only home we know—and the universe beyond.
