Gayil Nalls

Gayil Nalls, Ph.D., is an American interdisciplinary artist and theorist based in New York and the Hudson Valley. Her work spans art, science and biodiversity conservation. She works across an array of media but is best known for her olfactory-based artworks. Nalls expanded the boundaries of art when her social olfactory sculpture, World Sensorium, was dropped into a crowd of 2 million people at Times Square 2000. She is the founder of the World Sensorium Conservancy and the editor of its journal, Plantings, working to grow the number of people on the planet engaged in unified conservation action.

Nalls has had over 30 solo exhibitions and her work is in major museum collections, including The Metropolitan Museum in New York.
